December 2021 book haul

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the December 2021 book haul!! A monthly post where I usually shame myself for never achieving my goal of buying less than I read, or sticking to my buying goal.

In case you aren’t aware (which, fair, because I never made an announcement post, although I do mention this every month — and I WILL be making a 2022 post for this) my goal for each month is to only purchase 7 books, split between purchased books and books from book boxes. So, 7 paid books in total. But also I need to read more books than I collect each month, including review books. So it’s kind of a 2-part goal. That I very rarely meet. But, rules are made to be broken!! When it comes to book hauling anyway…

So, let’s go see the books I hauled in December!!

December 2021 book haul

Book haul categories are as follows:

• subscription boxes
• book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)
• review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)

* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

Book boxes continue to be the bane of my existence… I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate (which I sometimes skip and sometimes swap to OwlCrate Jr), FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for Illumicrate. I also subscribe to the quarterly book-only option for LitJoy. Plus I sometimes buy the special edition books they put out, but only if I loved the series, or I got the special edition of book 1 as part of the monthly box.

So, here is where I’m up to as at the end of December:

• 💟 = arrived in a previous month
• ✅ = arrived this month
• 🚚 = in transit
• ➡️ = skipped
• 🅿️ = parked (not out yet)
• ⏹ = did not switch to
• ❌ = confirmed that it was lost to the mail gremlins (but thankfully refunded)

I know January hasn’t happened yet, but I’ve started to forget which books I got and which ones I skipped, and I have to keep looking it up… So I’m adding it in early.

All of which means, I am caught up on Illumicrate (yay!), and my September OwlCrate finally arrived. Plus I got a special edition book. Which gave me a grand total of:

• Girls of Fate and Fury by Natasha Ngan
• A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske

Considering I had 4 book box books arrive in December… this could have been awful. But I’m pleasantly surprised to say that it wasn’t!

I only bought 5 other books in December, however, one of them was a special edition of a book that I probably own too many copies of. So really it’s more like 4 books… 😆

And once again, no review books in December!! Fingers crossed I can retire this section in 2022, because I have not requested any books in months.
