Christmas book tags

Good morning bookworms!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! (It’s Christmas in Australia, ok? Your turn will come soon!!)

I was tagged in 3 Christmas themed tags in the last week, and I just could squeeze them into my schedule, so I’m swapping them out for my regular WWW Wednesday and doing them today instead!

Firstly, we had the Joy of Christmas book tag (tagged by Michaela @ Journey into Books), and then the Naughty or Nice book tag (tagged by Luna @ Bookish Luna), and finally the Jingle Bells book tag (tagged by Kristina @ Books and Dachshunds). I did the Naughty or Nice tag last year, so I’ll keep that one on the pile for next year!!

ANTICIPATION – The Christmas excitement is real. What book release are you most anticipating?

My most anticipated read for 2020 would be Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. It was due to be out in February 2020, but has just been pushed back to August. Regardless of when it comes out, I’ll be screaming until it’s in my hands!!

CHRISTMAS SONGS AND CAROLS – What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?

Sing it with me on the count of three, ok? 1… 2… 3… MAGGIE STIEFVATER.

GINGERBREAD HOUSES – What book or series has wonderful world building?

Honestly, world building is one of the things I love most in really great fantasy books. I could list all of the Stiefvater books here (The Scorpio Races was the first book that came to mind), but instead let’s go with Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL – Favourite classic or one that you want to read

I have been meaning to read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë for the longest time! I’ve got a couple of retellings on my shelf, but I really want to read the original first. I’ve been put off by her sister Emily Bronteë though as I hated Wuthering Heights.

CHRISTMAS SWEETS – What book would you love to receive for Christmas?

I did a whole post on this last week… but if I could only pick one, I’m not sure what I’d want. I am getting a copy of the illustrated Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire though!

CANDLES IN THE WINDOW – What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

I’m trying to think of a book with a warm fuzzy feeling, but I keep thinking about books with feels and tears… Maybe Parental Guidance by Avery Flynn. Reading Pucked has made me want to read more ice hockey romances…

CHRISTMAS TREES AND DECORATIONS – What are some of your favourite book covers?

Definitely the Nevernight Chronicle books by Jay Kristoff. Kerby Rosanes did the art for the UK/AUS covers and they are amazing. They’re also really beautiful stacked next to each other.

CHRISTMAS JOY – What are some of your favourite things about Christmas and/or some of your favourite Christmas memories?

Oooh, so I was telling Taylor @ Nerd Narration about this last year, but in Australia we have beetles that come out every year at Christmas time, so we call them Christmas beetles. I remember so many years where we would hunt for them from the end of November onwards to see who could find one first!

Apart from this, two years ago in 2017, the husband and I were in Europe for our honeymoon at Christmas. We drove from Venice to Rome on Christmas day, and had our Christmas lunch at a petrol station just off the highway. For my present he got me a stuffed moose and we called it Alce, which is the start of ‘moose’ in Italian.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You…” | What book do you want to see under the Christmas Tree?

Uhhh… anyone else feeling a sense of deja vu here?

“Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time…” | What book that you have read this year have you enjoyed the most?

I’m still working on my top 10 list (5 contemp/romance, 5 fantasy), but suffice to say that books like The Boy Who Steals Houses, Nevermoor, Emergency Contact and The Queen of Nothing will be on it!!

“It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” | Which book has the most festive look to it?

Uhhh, so hear me out on this one. I know it’s a thriller/horror and I will likely never read it, but I really like the cover of N0S4R2 by Joe Hill.

Elf | What book unleashes your inner child?

So many!! However, this year while we were shopping, I found the ABC’s of D&D and the 1, 2, 3’s of D&D and they were the cutest things ever!!

The Grinch | Your favourite villain…

Uhhh… Maeve from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.

The Holiday | Name your favorite TWO couples…

Firstly, Jude and Cardan from Holly Black’s The Folk of the Air trilogy.

Secondly, Sean and Puck from Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races.

What book would you like to give as a present to your followers?

Uhhh… most people seem to be asking for the illustrated HP4, but really, just whatever is on their wishlist!

Speaking of wishlists, I’m going to keep this open for a couple more hours, but if you DO want a book (whether you have an online wishlist or not) click here to enter my Christmas giveaway!!

Tagging

I’m actually not going to tag anyone this time, but if you haven’t done either of these, then please feel free!!
