Book blitz: The Boy Who Steals Houses

Good morning bookworms!
So… last week while I was on a mini break, I was supposed to post something for the Aussie Book Blitz for The Boy Who Steals Houses by C. G. Drews. However, I didn’t for TWO reasons:

  • I had already written and posted a book review AND an author interview for this gorgeous gem of a book
  • I forgot

(it’s really just the second reason, but the first reason is valid)

Just in case you haven’t caught on by now though, I REALLY LOVED this book. So, in case YOU want to win a copy, dear bookworm friend, I am posting this, albeit slightly late… AND, you get some of my fave quotes from this amazing book as well! *swoons*
Quote: He doesn't break into houses because he enjoys stealing. He stalks vacant windows and tricks locks and sleeps in stolen beds because he just wants to be home.

Synopsis – The Boy Who Steals Houses

Can two broken boys find their perfect home?
Sam is only fifteen but he and his autistic older brother, Avery, have been abandoned by every relative he’s ever known. Now Sam’s trying to build a new life for them. He survives by breaking into empty houses when their owners are away, until one day he’s caught out when a family returns home. To his amazement this large, chaotic family takes him under their wing – each teenager assuming Sam is a friend of another sibling. Sam finds himself inextricably caught up in their life, and falling for the beautiful Moxie.
But Sam has a secret, and his past is about to catch up with him.
Quote: Sam slows and they limp, out of breath and bruised, on the footpath. He throws his arm over Avery's shoulder. 'We're stealing a house, because you know what we need?' Avery shakes his head. 'We are the kings of nowhere,' Sam says. 'We only need us.' He's a very good liar.

All of my posts that already mention how amazing this book is
Quote: A hand shoots up from the sofa and waves vaguely. 'Come in,' says a tired voice. 'Unless you're an axe murderer. Then stay out or whatever.' 'Wow, Jeremy. That was convincing. No axe murderers will come in now.'

(Jeremy is secretly my favourite in this book)

Quote: He rounds a corner and has to lean against a wall, leaving a palmprint of blood against the bricks. He looks over his shoulder. Avery hasn't come back. Sam didn't realise, until that moment, that he desperately wanted Avery to come back.

Quote: She cuts a sideways glance at Sam. He wants to whisper, do you have a crush? But his tongue is stuck, his breathing shallow. It'd be so much worse if she did. Boys like him don't get the girl. They go to jail.
Until next time, happy reading ??
