April 2022 book haul

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the April 2022 book haul!! A monthly post where I talk about all the books that I hauled in the previous month.

This year there won’t be any shaming for buying excess than my haul goals. In saying that, my haul goals this year are to only buy books I will read immediately, so that’s a step in the right direction. The main goal for the year, is to buy less books than I read. I’m trying not to increase my TBR this year. πŸ˜“

So, let’s go see the books I hauled in April!!

April 2022 book haul

Book haul categories are as follows:

  • book boxes (monthly/quarterly subscription or special edition book boxes)
  • review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)
  • book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)

* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

book boxes

I subscribe to a bunch of book boxes that I usually skip because 2022 is the year of cutting back.

And in April, I had three books arrive:

  • March Illumicrate (book-only YA sub) that included Gallant by V. E. Schwab
  • March FairyLoot (book-only adult sub) that included The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake, and
  • FairyLoot (special one-off) edition of Heartstopper Vol 2 by Alice Oseman.

book purchases

During April, I gained an additional five physical books and no ebooks… I’m still not sure if this is a good thing or not?!

So… what does this all mean for my book buying limit for 2022? This is where my strategic counting comes to play.

I had three book-box books (although, 1 is a multiple of a book I have already read so doesn’t count), and five physical book purchases. So now we tally up the physical TBR vs what I have read this year to see how much trouble I am in.

As at the end of March, I was at a +2 to the TBR for the year. Including April’s haul, I am now at +9 in total.

Read: Despite reading 11 books in April, only 4 of them were physical books I can check off the TBR.

So, all in all, the TBR is at a +5 for the year. It’s not awful, but I’d definitely like it to be closer to zero… or in the negatives!!

What was in your April 2022 book haul?

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo

I personally go by this rule too ahah read a pile, buy a pile πŸ˜‚ though I’m not really counting, just going for book hauls whenever the pile of unread books I do own has went down, it be time to buy some more!!

All good picks; remotely all of them are on my list too!

I’m trying to get the TBR down… but so long as it’s not going up it’s ok. Unfortunately it’s up πŸ˜‚
