April '19 wrap-up and NO TBR?!
Good morning bookworms!
We are one third into the year. Two more of these to go and we’ll be seeing 2020. (One more to go and I’ll have most of my anticipated reads for this year in my hot little hands!!!!)
April wrap-up
So, I read 10 books in April, which is mildly significant. (At this rate I might hit my Goodreads challenge of 90 books in October.) What is significant is that in this bunch, I had a 400+ page book, a 500+ page book, and an 800+ page book. Definitely a LONG reading month!
However, they weren’t all great. In fact, I think this is my lowest scoring month yet.

Top reads for the month go to Ashley Poston’s Once Upon a Con series, and also one of my Netgalley reads: Sorry I’m Late, I didn’t want to come by Jessica Pan which I found surprisingly hilarious and relatable.
Links above for reviews, and I think I’ve only really got a couple more to write!!
NO TBR?!
I know, right? NO TBR?! What is happening on this blog?!
Well, I’ve decided to acknowledge my inability to stick with one, and embrace it, by throwing it out entirely.
With one exception. ?
I will be listing review books that I need to read by the end of this month, but apart from those, I’m not making one. Every time I do make one I just get sad that I don’t follow it, and that makes me not want to read, so I’m combatting it by just not forcing the issue. I will read whatever I want! Whenever I want! #MoodReadersUnite!
So, review books I need to read in May:
- We are Blood and Thunder – Kesia Lupo
- StepSister – Jennifer Donnelly
- Small Kingdoms and Other Stories – Charlaine Harris
Fave posts
So, there were some pretty amazing posts out there this month. These are two of my faves that I saw:
- Malanie @ Malanie loves fiction talks about stress-free reading experiences with 8 book recommendations (and a link to others she posted before)
- Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane talking about finding your unique blogging voice ?
(I usually have more, but I don’t know where my list for April is?! ??)
Other in April
Some other stuff I came across this month that I really enjoyed were:
- AVENGERS ENDGAME. That’s really all I’m going to say here, except if you haven’t watched it yet, please go amend this grievous error now!! I’ve seen it twice at the cinemas, and fangirled about it with far too many people in my life (they all know that I saw it on 24 April, which was first day it was out in Australia) so it was nice to have all those chats early on!!
- Holly Black announced that The Queen of Nothing will be releasing early in November THIS YEAR. It’s the most exciting news I’ve heard in forever, and only just got pipped at my number one spot because I am a die-hard Marvel nerd. (Look, I get 21 Holly Black fae books, then it might have beaten out Endgame… Also, Holly, can you please write 21 fae books? I mean, you’re already 7 down counting TQoN!)
- I totally finished my rewatch of Season 3 of Veronica Mars, and I also crammed the movie in too. I’m all set for 26 July when it starts up again (like, I don’t think you know how excited I am!!)
- Game of Thrones is back on again!! In fact, as I’m writing this there’s only TWO episodes left ? so be prepared for lots of sobbing or cheering in another fortnight!!
Until next time, happy reading! ??
