A-Z Bookish Tag
Good morning bookworms!
This morning I am so excited to come to you with this tag!! I had seen it doing the rounds for AGES and was somewhat sad (and slightly miffed ?) that no one had tagged me in it. In fact, I was on the verge of stealing it from someone’s blog when the amazing Bex @ Becca Leighanne tagged me to do it! (Thanks for saving me Bex!)
There’s no actual rules, but I feel weird diving straight into a post, so I’m making them up…? (I am such a Ravenclaw…)
Rules
- Thank the person who tagged you (thanks Bex!!)
- Link back to the creator (The Perpetual Page Turner)
- Answer the below prompts
- Tag people
*phew* I’m glad that’s over, let’s get started!
a | author you’ve read the most books from:
Hilariously, this is actually Janet Evanovich who I rarely post about. Ms Evanovich writes hilarious crime novels (not thrillers) and also some romances. I love her Stephanie Plum novels (there’s 25 of them so far) and even though they are very formulaic I can’t seem to stop reading them. I also really love the Knight and Moon series (2 books) and the Fox and O’Hare (5 books?).
b | best sequel ever:
I think I have to say Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This book was a bit strange because from memory it actually took me a bit to get into (not the same characters as the first book) and then when I realised I loved them more, Amie and Jay ripped my heart out and stomped on it. But I loved it…?
c | currently reading:
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
d | drink of choice while reading:
Tea. Specifically, Melbourne Breakfast tea (by T2) with lots of milk.
e | e-reader or physical book:
I am a physical book reader. Unless I go on holidays, in which case I pack my iPad.
f | fictional character you would’ve dated in high school:
Adam Parrish (The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater). I would have secretly had crushes on Ronan, Noah, and Gansey, but I would have dated Adam.
g | glad you gave this book a chance:
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli. I was gifted a copy and I also got one in a FairyLoot box. Then I agreed to do a buddy read (and I didn’t read it) and then a friend basically yelled at me to read it. AND I LOVED IT. I read The Caged Queen as soon as I got my hands on it, and The Sky Weaver is one of my most anticipated books of this year!
h | hidden gem book:
Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd. This was a book I was looking forward to last year (let’s be honest, anything mentioning a fairytale I am in). And then it came in a LitJoy box and I was ecstatic. The story is nothing like what I thought it would be – it’s even better, and I can’t wait for Midnight Beauties to come out this year. This is a series that everyone should read!!
i | important moment in your reading life:
I had read a lot of ‘young adult’ growing up, but books weren’t necessarily split into defined age groups like they are now. I had read things like The Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix, Tomorrow When the War Began by John Marsden, The Witches of Eileanan by Kate Forsyth. They were all fantasy/dystopian novels that I sort of weaved into my reading alongside Magician by Raymond E Feist, The Belgariad by David Eddings, and the Discworld by Terry Pratchett. A couple of years ago I went to this amazing bookstore and was talking to one of the employees about recommendations and she dragged me to this whole section of shelves and said “You need to read basically everything here.” She had taken me to the YA section. And I’ve never looked back.
j | just finished:
Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
k | kind of books you won’t read:
Thrillers, horrors, non-fiction (especially true crime), a lot of erotica (porn without plot doesn’t do it for me). I’m an escapist – give me a fantasy setting or a pinch of hope contemporary and I’m happy.
l | longest book you’ve read:
The Red Queen by Isobelle Carmody tops my list at 1120 pages. This is the seventh and final book in the Obernewtyn series. The entire series comes in at 4,710 pages.
m | major book hangover because of:
Uhhh, I’m sure there’s been a few, but I can’t think of any. I didn’t really gel with anything for a while after Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff, but I think that was more personal circumstances at the time.
n | number of bookcases you own:
Four, and they are all mismatched and overflowing. We’re in the process of buying our first home, and when we move in I am buying MATCHING BOOKCASES. And enough to fit all my books and some extra space!
o | one book you’ve read multiple times:
The Waitress by Melissa Nathan
p | preferred place to read:
Couch, bed, hammock… I can really read anywhere, including cars, trains and planes.
q | quote that inspires you/gave you all the feels from a book:
Two quotes (because I can’t pick one), and they will both be tattooed on me the next time I get tatts:
You’ve got the look of a girl who’s no stranger to the page. I can tell. You’ve got words in your soul. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Safe as life. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
r | reading regret:
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I just wish I hadn’t started that series, I feel like I wasted a month reading it.
s | series you’ve started and need to finish (all books are out):
I actually tend to wait these days to read all the books together (binge read) after they have come out. But series I have read a couple of pages of and then not changed my mind are: The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare, the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab. (I’m getting to them, I promise!)
t | three of your all time favorite books:
I’m doing standalones only otherwise we’ll be here forever.
- The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
- Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (still technically standalone until September)
- Back After the Break by Anita Notaro
u | unapologetic fangirl for:
The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff
v | very excited for this release:
Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
w | worst bookish habits:
Stress buying books online. Because you don’t get that instant gratification of buying a book so I tend to buy a LOT, and then weeks later when the mail comes and my husband is all “what are all of these books?” but in the interim I’ve bought more and it’s this vicious cycle (and book bans don’t tend to work for me!!)
x | x marks the spot! start at the top left of your bookshelf and pick the 27th book:
The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell (but it’s kind of hard because I have double stacked books!)
y | your latest book purchase:
Not a purchase, but the last book I got in the mail was sent from a publisher. I got StepSister by Jennifer Donnelly which is due out on 14 May (click on the title for Goodreads link). It’s a Cinderella retelling!
z | zzz-snatcher book—last book that kept you up way too late:
Emergency Contact by Mary H. K. Choi – I stayed up until 2am to finish this and I LOVED IT.

Emergency Contact is like one of those totally unexpected awesome books that just came out of nowhere. It’s become an absolute fave of this year for me. ?
Christopher | Plucked from the Stacks
This was so much fun to read! And I’m the same way about Janet Evanovich books. I don’t think I’ve ever posted about her, but I read everything he writes. Sure, the Stephanie Plum series is formulaic, but it’s so, so fun.

I’m also looking forward for Wayward Son since I thoroughly enjoyed reading Carry On. Hopefully it’ll be a good sequel. ?

Oh I have all of my fingers and toes crossed that it’ll be amazing!! But, Carry On was the best unexpected (sort of) sequel to Fangirl that surely it can’t be anything other than brilliant!!

Thanks so much for the tag! ? I finished The Grishaverse and ADSOM series at the beginning of the year. Both were decent but not my favorite. ADSOM is my favorite out of the two series. I’d love to read in a hammock!
I done this tag a little while ago but I’ll leave the link so you can look at my answers! ☺️

You have included so many great books on your list! Neverwhere is pretty high on my tbr, and I was laughing as I read about you buying books online. I’m the same way! I want the instant gratification of going to the store, but, we don’t really have a bookstore close to us and I mean I can’t afford that store, so, here I am ordering books, forgetting and watching as the postman looks at me with hate in his eyes when they all start to come in lol. Great tag, I had a lot of fun reading your answers!
Meeghan reads
Hahaha, thanks!! I recently ordered the same book twice because (I’m an idiot and) all the other books of that order had arrived and I just assumed I hadn’t ordered it… ??♀️
Keira
Thanks for the tag! I also have a book buying problem… but in my case I work in a bookshop so when I’m shelving books and stuff I suddenly have the urge to buy them…. hehe oopsies.
Meeghan reads
I feel like that would be the best problem!!

Oh Lauren, that’s basically how I feel EVERY SINGLE TIME someone else does a tag… There’s so many series I’ve not even started it’s not funny: Grishaverse, ADSOM, Lumatere Chronicles, Dark Artifices… the list is SOOO LONG!!
