June 2025 TBR

Hello friends!! Welcome to my June 2025 TBR. A post where I will attempt to take my best guess at what I will feel like reading for the upcoming month.

May was lovely. A month of freedom and mood reading and doing whatever I pleased. Except for the part where I made myself a secret TBR in my reading journal/planner because the page looked weird being blank. And then because I recently bought myself stickers to see if I actually completed my TBR I filled it in. (Ticks for complete, ghosts for did-not-start, and merit badges for started-but-have-not-finished. They’re very cute.)

So, really nothing changed, except I probably picked better books for myself. (They were all romance. Some romantasy. But ALL romance.)

June, however, will be a birthday present to myself.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed (although I did do a post on it quite some time ago), I pick up a lot of books. And I’m not very good at DNFing them. Sometimes they sit on my ‘currently reading’ shelf on Goodreads for years. And I do mean literal YEARS. The oldest was when I started Great Expectations in 2015. So, maybe a DECADE is a more accurate description. To be fair, Great Expectations is a reread, as I’ve already read it twice, and this was a refresher while I was also reading Jack Maggs. Which is also a reread. (Jack Maggs is like a Guildenstern and Rosencrantz are Dead version of Great Expectations. But serious. And a novel.)

My present to myself this year is to get the number of books I’m currently reading down to FIVE. Now, while this is still a lot for normal people. My currently reading shelf usually sits around 18-22. Which I readily admit is ridiculous. However, even those books that I haven’t quite committed to DNFing yet, I know exactly what’s been happening in those plots. Which is why I keep them there.

Don’t get me wrong, I can finish a book and 10 minutes later not remember the main character’s name. But if I’m still reading it, my brain won’t let it go. It’s part of the reason I’m so bad at DNFing books.

Also, just a quick note to say that I’m not abandoning my book clubs at all. I’ve already read the book for one of them, and I don’t have any interest in reading the other at this time. Plus I’m trying not to buy the book if I don’t already have it.

So, with absolutely no further ado (because that’s a lot of context and conjecture already), here is my June 2025 TBR!
