Ok, my plan for the rest of the year is to monitor all my challenge books. You know, so I can try and achieve something. Do I also need to add in all of my Top 5 picks from the start of the year?? Maybe. Oooft… let’s not. At least, not yet anyway…
I said in my October TBR post that I had built a spreadsheet, so you can monitor my reading with me, if you’d like!
This week I smashed through a book I didn’t really want to read. And then two ok romances, one of which has been on my bookshelf for ages.

I understand why this is considered a classic, but I honestly hated it. It’s such an awful story, even though the message is valid. Thank goodness it’s so short.

Look, I see where Sajni Patel was going with this. But, I didn’t enjoy it as much as The Trouble with Hating You (which I LOVED). I’ll still read a few more, but this was only ok.

Honestly, this had a lot of promise. I was really hoping it was going to be a 4-5 star read, but the ending kind of fell flat. Mostly because it just ended. Almost in the middle of a chapter. It felt weird.
Ahh yes, my 12 in 12 book recommended by Clo @ Cuppa Clo. Don’t quote me on this, but I think Clo has been tapping my shoulder telling me (softly and gently) that I should read this book for the last… few years?
And look, I’m finally doing it!! I am about currently about 100 pages into Three Mages and a Margarita by Annette Marie. And considering I started it today, that’s pretty good!!
Honestly, this seems like a super fun read. And given Clo was the one who got me hooked on the Chicagoland Vampire books last year, I will take any recommendation that she throws my way.
The Guild Codex: Spellbound series is eight books long… but given how many challenge books I still need to read, I probably won’t pick up book 2 until next year, even if this is amazing.
My plan is to finish The Sinisiter Booksellers of Bath by Garth Nix next. Partly because I’ve already started it… and also because it’s on my TBR for October.
Plus, I think the first book has had enough of a distance that I can’t remember why I only gave it three stars.
And I love Garth Nix. So surely I will love this book too!!
I do need to find my copy though…
Failing to find my copy, I’ll either pick up Wolfsong by TJ Klune, or Blitz by Daniel O’Malley.

OMG YAYYYY you finally picked up the guild codex spellbound!!!! Yes it has been a few years at least that I’ve been quietly shoving this book at you. Considering you loved Chicagoland Vampires, I think you’ll also love this series and the world. I actually need to dive back into the guild codex world and finish reading warped and start the unveiled series. The nice thing about Spellbound though is when you get into it and are in the mood, the books just fly by at least they did for me ^.^
I’m currently reading Girl, Serpent, Thorn and am just over halfway through now – I’m really loving it like both because it’s a standalone fantasy and also just the characters and world. So I’m hoping to finish that one in Oct along with rereading Assassin’s Blade since me and Ruby are attempting to buddy read Throne of Glass in it’s entirety. (for me that’s rereading up until empire of storms and then reading tower of dawn and kingdom of ash for the first time.) Finally I’m hoping to read The City of Stardust since I have the fairyloot edition because I fell in love with that cover. It’s also a standalone fantasy, which is good since my brain is just maxed out on having enough series to finish right now. It’s not in the mood to add another series to that list at the moment haha. I hope that you enjoy the Garth Nix. I don’t think that the books are as good as Sabriel etc but I did enjoy them both.

I just can’t remember why I gave Left-Handed Booksellers three stars… but I do love all of his other books. The Old Kingdom books are so great. They were a pinnacle of my teen years 💕
