Bookending Summer: Down and Acrostic

Good morning bookworms!

Bookending Summer logoThis post is part of Bookending Summer 2019, which is organized by Sam & Clo! My prompt for today, “Down and Acrostic” is hosted by Isabelle @ Bookwyrm Bites! (And you SHOULD go check out all their blogs because they’re amazing and Isabelle is one of the nicest people ever.)

If you aren’t sure what a ‘down and acrostic’ is, then I’ll let Isabelle explain it here:

Pick a summer-themed word (ex: beach, fireworks, heatwave, barbecue, vacation) or the title of a book with summer vibes. Write it vertically, then try to fill in titles that start with each letter (you can omit determiners like “the” and “a”). For example, if your first book is Radiance, then you might have [The] Raven BoysAnna UndreamingDarius the Great Is Not Okay, and so on.
Difficult mode: Use only books that fit a theme, such as “three-word titles” or “YA contemporary” or “squad goals.”

So, I’m kind of going for a difficulty mode, in that I’m hoping to ONLY put summer-recommendations on my list!! But, we’ll see how we go.

So, in Australia (where it’s currently winter), most of us go to the beach during summer. And because our sun is so blisteringly hot, you take every precaution available otherwise you end up looking like a lobster, and then risking getting skin cancer. This is no joke, friends. So, one of the things that we took to the beach when I was little was a beach umbrella.

  1. Ahah, three of us used Emergency contact! That’s kinda neat!

Talking of sunburns… I didn’t took the necessary precautions when going sail boating and my face aswell as my shoulders got burnt 😂 and here I thought my skin couldn’t burn !!! So, kids.. listen to the precaution talk!

  2. sunburn is the actual bane of my existence, luckily I mostly just tan but for some reason my ears and scalp burn and it is not a good time – and my friends with fairer skin ended up red all over after a long day of marching band practice! so while I’ve never had a real-life encounter with a beach umbrella, it definitely seems like an infinitely practical item to bring along.

I love that you’ve gone for the extra summery challenge of using summer recommendations, that somehow hadn’t even crossed my mind as a possible theme but it’s fantastic! 💕
