2019 Book Blogger Award nominations

Good evening bookworms!

Something a little bit different for you today… I’m putting forward my nominations for the 2019 Book Blogger Awards!

In case you weren’t aware, this is the third annual awards, and the first year that May @ Forever and Everly will be running them. May wrote a gorgeous post explaining all the categories and why she decided to take the awards over from Joce @ Through the Night, and if you haven’t seen the post (or you’re in the market for following a truly beautiful account by an amazing person), then click on THIS LINK HERE to go visit May. Also, nominations are open until Saturday July 20, 11:59PM CDT, so you still have 2 weeks-ish to nominate your fave bloggers!

Ok, so there are actually 22 different award categories, but I’m (probably) not going to nominate for all of them, because honestly I don’t know how I could even pick against some of them!! All you people out in the blogging community are such beautiful bookworms and I love you all so much – it was actually really hard to just pick these!!

Best Adult Book Blogger (20+)

I love Destiny @ Howling Libraries‘ blog. I love the consistency of the posts, I love scrawling through her shelfies, currently reading lists, and am always gobsmacked by how much she actually reads in a year. I am constantly taking note of the books and reviews that she reads, particularly the graphic novels, as this is where I get a lot of recs from.

Middle Grade or Younger

Stephani @ Ms Stephani Michelle isn’t a solely a MG / children’s book blogger (in fact, she does a bit of everything), but she does do a lot of reviews of MG and childrens books. And this is where I actually get most of my reads in this age group from. Stephani is the reason that I read books like The House With Chicken Legs, and Nevermoor, but also why I really want to read Starfell and The Peculiar Peggs of Riddling Woods.

Sophie @ Beware of the Reader is my favourite romance book blogger in the world. Any time I am looking for something light and fluffy, or a bit darker, I always scour Sophie’s blog for something that takes my interest. She’s always on top of the latest books, and to be honest, I don’t even know how she fits it all into her extremely busy schedule!

Literary Fiction / Classics / Poetry

Kate @ Books are my favourite and best talks a lot about books that I am not a huge reader of – primarily award winning literary fiction. I always find it really fascinating as to what Kate likes and doesn’t like, but following her blog also keeps me up to date with, not only books that do get shortlisted for awards, but also things that are interesting yet not really in my corner of the world, like Eurovision.

Best Book Recommendations

100% this nomination goes to Isabelle @ Bookwyrm Bites. Isabelle has only written a handful of these posts, but the themes that she uses (found families, quiet YA/NA, wondrous women) and the best. I cannot internally scream about these posts enough, and everyone MUST read them!

Best Discussion Posts

The Orangutan Librarian writes some of the best discussion posts I have read. Recent favourites of mine include: Addressing “entitled” fans, In defence of fairy tales, and The need for darkness in books. (Also bonus points for the Pratchett nod in the blog title 😘)

Best Blog Aesthetic

It would be HIGHLY remiss of me to not nominate Kat @ Novels and Waffles for this category. Even before her new blog aesthetic, Kat’s blog was seriously gorgeous, and now it’s on a whole other level. Seriously, her blog is 1,000% goals and I just can’t keep from staring at the background every time I go in there to read a post! (It also makes me hungry…)

Most Engaged in the Community

I would like to nominate Shanah @ the Bionic Bookworm for this category. Shanah actively runs the Top 5 Tuesday prompts that I have been participating in for over a year now. By ‘actively’, I mean that Shanah visits every one of the posts that link back to her blog, promote them with links from her list each week, and comments most weeks as well. Not only does she have amazing creativity to ensure that there are unique prompts every week and blog hop to all participants, but she also takes part in other challenges and prompts developed by other people, and does read-a-thons as well.

Best Social Media Influencer

I just cannot go past Cait @ Paper Fury for this one. Cait not only writes amazing novels herself, but she writes fantastic blog posts, hilarious tweets and takes the most gorgeous instagram photos that I am beyond envious of!! Plus she’s a fellow Aussie so she gets a bonus from me for that alone! Cait also adds an unseemly number of books to my TBR every time she posts, so I’d say she’s a pretty good influencer.

Friendliest Member of the Community

This one has to (for me) go to Sofii @ A Book. A Thought. Sofii is one of the sweetest bloggers out there and I am absolutely stoked to be able to call her a friend. She’s so supportive: always there writing the nicest comments on my posts, and encouraging me to read books, and cheering from the sidelines or sending best wishes when things get tough. Sofii is the kind of friend you wish was living just down the street so you could pop in and give hugs to whenever the need occurs.

Best at Promoting Diverse Books

Oooh, this one was so hard because I wanted to nominate about 6 bloggers for it. But I have to give it to Michelle @ Michelle Likes Things. Not only does Michelle regularly post about diverse books, but for the entire month of June, she has posted a different set of recommendations for pride month (which, seriously, everyone should go check out).

Best New Book Blogger (started blog after August 2018)

My nominee for this is JR Lynn @ Eternity Books. JR started blogging in December 2018, and she has created this beautiful space that is engaging and fun, AND she always leaves the most lovely comments on my posts. I feel truly blessed to have found such a lovely blogging friend in her!

Best Overall Book Blogger

This one was really hard, but I’m committed to giving my nomination for this to Vicky @ Vicky Who Reads. Vicky writes great reviews, excellent recommendations, promotes books really well (I am loving the new series where she works with authors to write herself into the story), and also shares the love for the people who design book covers. Her posts are always fun to read, and the aesthetic of her blog is lovely to boot.

These are just SOME of my favourite bloggers, certainly not all, and even if I didn’t nominate you for something, then please don’t think that I don’t love and appreciate you, and all of your amazing content. Book bloggers are some of the hardest working people out there who do this job for love, and that’s something that I admire more than anything.
