May ’19 book haul

Good morning bookworms!

We are getting back to our regularly scheduled content now… Our new normal categories are as follows:

  • book boxes
  • book purchases (book mail, instore and digital)
  • review copies (book mail and digital), and
  • bookish items (book related, but not actual books).

May book boxes

I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate, FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for LitJoy. Here is what arrived in May:

  • Owlcrate’s May theme was Epic Adventures, and the book was We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal

FairyLoot’s May box is yet to depart the UK, and I suspended my May LitJoy as the book was Nocturna by Maya Motayne, which I received in the April FairyLoot box.

May book purchases

I definitely did more book shopping than I thought I did… the eBooks didn’t help the total either!!

Key: 📖 physical book | 📱 ebook

  • The Near Witch – V. E. Schwab 📖
  • The Shadow Glass – Rin Chupeco 📖
  • The Red Scrolls of Magic – Cassandra Clare 📖
  • The Fever King – Victoria Lee 📖
  • Lady Smoke – Laura Sebastian 📖
  • White Cat – Holly Black 📖
  • Red Glove – Holly Black 📖
  • Black Heart – Holly Black 📖
  • The Summer Palace and Other Stories – C. S. Pacat 📖
  • At the Stroke of Midnight – Tara Sivec 📱
  • In Bed with the Beast – Tara Sivec 📱
  • Kiss the Girl – Tara Sivec 📱
  • Songs About a Girl – Chris Russell (definitely a cover buy – the background is actually a foiled cover, silvery with the rainbow spectrum through it) 📖
  • The Big Kahuna – Janet Evanovich 📖

May review copies

OK, so I am getting more digital copies (thank you Netgalley), so NOW is the time to stop requesting books while I catch up on the ones I have!!

Key: 📖 physical book | 📱 ebook

  • Darkwood – Gabby Hutchinson Crouch 📱
  • Postcards for a Songbird – Rebekah Crane 📱
  • The Gamer’s Guide to Getting the Girl – Kristine Scarrow 📱
  • The Eyes of Tamburah – Maria V. Snyder 📱
  • Ever Alice – H. J. Ramsay 📱
  • Seeker – Kim Chance 📱
  • Spin – Colleen Nelson 📱

May bookish items

I have a lot of pins now… I bought a BUNCH of bookish pins from Nerdy Post… but I think I packed my camera… so, if I find it, I’ll take some photos… and if I don’t, I’ll try and remember to take photos when we unpack in another 2 weeks…

Happy reading! 😊📚

  1. I don’t buy a ton of print books but ebooks are TERRIBLE for my self-control, budget (even with all those free and discounted titles and ARCs) … holy wow, those are pretty covers and I bet they look amazing together on the shelf 📚

good luck catching up on ARCs! I don’t think I’ve heard much about any of the ones on your list (and I don’t have any of them), but I hope you enjoy them!

    1. Hahaha, the only one that doesn’t look stunning on the shelf (or in the box now…) is the Captive Prince short stories, which is the one I am reading right now. It only came in the post on Thursday (just scraped in) and I am nearly finished!!
