Top 5… book titles

Good morning bookworms!

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘top 5 book titles’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!

ARGHH!! This is me posting VERY late on Tuesday night… I hope you guys are ready for this, because I have scoured my bookshelves, my book depository wishlist and my goodreads account for my top 5 book titles. Expect to see a lot of satire, because I genuinely enjoy funny book titles. If you have a clever book title, I’m basically sold. This list is full of AH-MAZING books. Just saying…

That’s Not How You Wash a Squirrel by David Thorne

To be honest, this one was a bit of a coin toss because I genuinely could have just listed a bunch of David Thorne books for this whole topic. This one, Wrap It In A Bit Of Cheese Like You’re Tricking The Dog or Look Evelyn, Duck Dynasty Wiper Blades. We Should Get Them all really hit the mark for me. In case you’ve been living under a rock for 15 years or so, David Thorne is essentially a professional troll and makes money by running a blog, writing essays and occasionally doing some graphic design work.

You Don’t Have To Be Evil To Work Here, But It Helps by Tom Holt

Tom Holt is another author where I could have listed five of his titles to make the entire list. Other fave titles by him include: Who’s Afraid of Beowulf?Earth, Air, Fire and Custard and The Good, The Bad and The Smug. If you enjoy satirical fantasy (yes, fantasy!), i.e. Pratchett, then I highly recommend you look into Holt’s work. Much like the Discworld, it really doesn’t matter where you start with his books, but if you work in the corporate world, I really recommend The Outsorcerer’s Apprentice.

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson

I’m sure I’ve mentioned Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson on here before, but my fave book of hers is still Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. Another collection of essays, Jenny (aka The Bloggess) is a blogger and author of some seriously funny (and equally disturbing) content. However, she somehow manages to see the silver lining of things and shares them with her many followers. Additionally, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work with cats, click here. (PS, this is my life when I work from home.)

While numbers 1-3 were all very easy picks for me, I’m definitely having trouble picking just two more. So… I’m probably going to pick more than two, but I will definitely give you my reasoning behind them. But, mini-versions so I’m not here all night!

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera – I love the title of this book because it genuinely tells you how it’s going to end, but it’s the journey of how you get there that makes the biggest impact on the reader.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli – If you’ve ever been a teenager you probably have a pretty good idea what unrequited love is like, but I’ve never before thought that there is an upside to it. This book was so good, and reminded me what it was like to be a shy, awkward teenager.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell – I think I just love this title because of memes. But, seriously, Baz and Simon can carry on all they like. I will be here every step of the way with them! Bring on Wayward Son!

So, there’s probably a whole bunch of other books with amazing titles (and I can’t wait to see everyone else’s posts).

Until next time, happy reading! 😊📚
