Top 5… books I predict will be 5 star reads!

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books that I predict will be 5 star reads’ (or 10 stars in my case), and is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm, and you can check out her page here (please do, she’s amazing). This topic I’ve actually been looking forward to, so thank you Shanah for not making me cringe through another “OMG everyone is going to hate me after this!” week!

Basically, this topic is going to list my top 5 (I know, right? I could probably list about 20, but I’m learning to limit myself!) most anticipated books over the next year!

Leah
Leah on the Offbeat

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli is my sole contemporary fiction on this list, so I will start here. Albertalli is just about hands-down one of my newest fave authors, and her previous two novels, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Upside of Unrequited were both, hands down, 5 star reads for me, so I am expecting no less for this book that is currently headed my way.

Kingdom of Ash
Kingdom of Ash

I am through and through a TOG gal over ACOTAR any day, and while I thought that ACOWAR was slightly too sickly an ending for that trilogy (now series?), I am hoping for more chaos come October when we get the final instalment of the Throne of Glass series, Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. I need Aelin and Rowan to survive, but everyone else is up for grabs by Death. (Yes, that really is my unpopular opinion, and no, I am not joking…)

The Wicked King
The Wicked King

My only anticipated read of 2019 so far is The Wicked King by Holly Black, sequel to The Cruel Prince. TCP threw me for just how much I loved it, I was so not expecting to be that amazed and shocked and grabbed by that novel, and I am so deliciously addicted to its characters and basically I just need more IMMEDIATELY.

Darkdawn
Darkdawn

Now, my most anticipated read of 2018 is Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff. This is the third and final instalment in The Nevernight Chronicle (Nevernight and Godsgrave being the first two), and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Godsgrave, so Voyager, if you’re listening, I am so down with an ARC of Darkdawn (also, if you have any laying around of Nevernight to complete my sets – yes, I may be collecting copies of these books… yes, I do have 4 versions of Godsgrave and all of them are signed… yes, I am absolutely obsessed, I’m not even pretending it’s low-key anymore). Also, I am expect all of the death and destruction in this book and I’ll be impressed if anyone is left standing at the end of this series. Long live King Kristoff. (Also, how f***ing badass is this cover??)

And finally, a book that doesn’t even have a release date or name, the first (well, actually, all of them) book in the upcoming initially referred The Dreamer Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater. If you live under a rock, let me tell you that Stiefvater announced that she will be writing a follow up trilogy to The Raven Cycle, predominantly revolving around Ronan Lynch (aka my fave male character ever and #bookboyfriend, except not, because I’m not his type…). There is literally no information on this, except that it’s happening, and a few photos of potential lines that Stiefvater leaks on Twitter every so often. But I’m still giving it a 5 out of 5.

  1. DARKDAWN!!! SO excited! I’m going to admit I’m a little afraid of his ruthlessness. I might have to prepare myself for that one! And, of course, Sarah J Maas – I just preordered A Court of Frost and Starlight 🙂
Thanks for participating – added you to the list 🙂

  2. Kingdom of Ashes made it to my list too! Now I wanted the Wicked King but he’ll be released in 2019 only so … Following now as we have many books in common ;-)))

    1. How cruel is it to make us wait til 2019 and 2020 for those books when there are already ARCs of Wicked King out?! They should bring the release dates forward!! Also, I’m on my way to check out your blog too! 😘

  3. I still have to start reading the Nevernight-series but I’ve heard soooo many good things about it. Can’t imagine it disappointing at all, haha. Not to mention the covers are gorgeous so I’m simply claiming the content has to be amazing as well.

Leah on the Offbeat is AMAZING! This reminds me I have to finish up my review soon.. :’) Oops. :’)
Hope you’ll love it as much as I do. ❤
