March ’18 book haul

YAY!! Who doesn’t love a good book haul?! I mean, apart from my bank account…

Anyway, we are splitting this into three sections because I (once again) bought too many books… oops?!

March book boxes

OK, so I got my normal large quota of books this month, but we’re starting with subscriptions. Yay!

  • OwlCrate’s March box theme was Across the Galaxy, and (unsurprisingly), the book was a copy of Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. The OC copy has a slightly different cover (therefore exclusive), purple sprayed edges and is SIGNED.
  • FairyLoot’s theme was Memorable Moments, and because March is the subscription birthday it came in the super sweet purple box (instead of the normal black), and of course DHL put the sticker right on the top so it’s basically unusable in photos. Thanks DHL, you’re the best… Oh, and the book was State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury (with a signed bookplate from memory).
  • The YA Chronicles’ theme was Diverse Fantasy Part II, and so the book included was Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi (and I have heard many good things about this).
  • Fanciful Box’s theme was Hunter or Hunted, and included The Wren Hunt by Mary Watson (sorry Mary, I was a huge Sherlock fan so you look like Amanda Abbington in my head).

Just to round this out, my LitJoy has yet to arrive (apparently it’s in Germany?? There’s always one, isn’t there…), and last month’s late box was Fanciful, which had Palace of Fires by Bill Bennett.

Also, my The Book Crate Aus subscription ran out a month earlier than I thought it did, so I didn’t get the Feb box after all!

March book mail

Umm, so… you’re about to see how crazy my shopping got when I knew I was getting a pay-rise. And I apologise in advance, because I’m pretty sure that April is going to be just as bad! Also, I had to get the rest of the Barnes and Noble leatherbound classics set because the one Alice book by itself just looked so sad!

  • The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by J. M. Barrie (B&N set)
  • Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne (B&N set)
  • The Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lany (B&N set)
  • The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (B&N set)
  • The Story of King Arthur and his Knights by Howard Pyle (B&N set)
  • Lament by Maggie Stiefvater (signed)
  • Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater (signed)
  • The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (signed, hardback)
  • Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller (pre-order)
  • Fence (Issue #4) by C. S. Pacat (subscription)
  • Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

This is why my TBR is never going to get smaller than my read pile. Because I have zero self-control. It’s awful!

March book purchases (in person)

Oh gawd… I am literally shame spiralling here. Why did I agree to put all my purchases up in public? F*** it. I like books and I have a well paying job so I can buy books. Also, that no self-control thing again. Oh yeah, and I went to a book signing so I bought books at that too.

  • Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
  • This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
  • Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
  • Red Rising by Pierce Brown
  • Morning Star by Pierce Brown
  • Golden Son by Pierce Brown
  • Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch
  • The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord
  • Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
  • The Little Mermaid and other Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen (B&N set – missing from pic)
  • The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle (B&N set – missing from pic)

Anyway, I am now sufficinetly shamed, so I’m going to go hide in a corner somewhere…

Happy reading!

  1. I got my bonus in March, and also discovered Book Outlet, so… Yeah. My post will be up tomorrow with my March book haul, and if you check it out you’ll see you’re in good company. 🙂
