Honey teriyaki chicken wings

As I may have mentioned, a friend of mine (that’s you Ben) has requested more savoury type dishes.  He’s a savoury type of guy.  And I’m pretty sure I’ve made these for him before.  Now that we’ve moved from two floors up to about 800km away, I thought I might share this with him… and everyone else.


  • 1.5 kg chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1 1/3 cups soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Mirin rice cooking wine
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2-3 tbsp Sriracha, optional


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C and grease a large (and deep) baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl whisk together corn flour and 1 tablespoon water.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Mirin, honey, garlic, ginger, Sriracha and corn flour mixture.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer onto prepared baking dish.  Pour the sauce evenly over the wings.
  5. Place into oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, using metal tongs to turn at about 20-15 minutes in.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving otherwise you will likely burn your mouth.

Disclaimer: These are going to smell so good that your neighbours will be knocking on your doors.  Do not answer.  Pretend this is the start of the zombie apocalypse and keep those creeps out.  This is no time for neighbourly love.
